Missoula, MT – January 6, 2009 – Talus Outdoor Technologies, LLC is putting its breakthrough ColdAvenger® technology into a new product that offers unprecedented warmth and cold weather protection -- the ColdAvenger® Expedition Balaclava.  Made from soft shell Polartec fleece, it combines the classic design and warmth of a balaclava with the added convenience of an integrated, fully removable ColdAvenger® ventilator face mask, streamlining cold weather protection and eliminating the need for extra pieces of gear.

The ColdAvenger® Expedition Balaclava is made from soft shell Polartec fleece that is resistant to wind and moisture, but is still breathable and insulating.  It stretches just enough to create a snug yet comfortable fit.  Every exposed edge is finished with Lycra banding for comfort and durability.  The neck gaiter is cut on an angle, coming down lower in front to provide complete coverage and protection of the neck and upper chest.

Just like every ColdAvenger® mask, the face piece of the ColdAvenger® Expedition Balaclava is made of medical grade biocompatible plastic selected for its safety, microbial resistance, and overall cold weather endurance. The medical grade polyurethane ventilator  mixes inhaled cold air with exhaled warm air to achieve a dynamic balance of warmth and humidity to protect the airways from the damaging cold, all while keeping moisture away from the face. The Talus ColdAvenger’s patent-pending ventilation technology actually keeps temperatures inside the mask 40?– 60?F higher than outside air.  The face piece of the ColdAvenger® Expedition Balaclava hooks on both sides of the hood with soft high quality and durable Velcro, and is completely removable for convenience or emergencies.  It can accommodate a hydration tube, or a headset and/or microphone.
